Amigurumi Bears and Chick

Materials:



  • Yarn: Worsted weight yarn in light grey, yellow, purple, and red

  • Hook: 3.5 mm (E) crochet hook

  • Safety eyes: 8 mm (for bears)

  • Stuffing: Polyester fiberfill

  • Stitch markers (optional)

  • Yarn needle for sewing ends

  • ch - chain

  • sc - single crochet

  • inc - increase (2 sc in same stitch)

  • dec - decrease (sc 2 together)

  • sl st - slip stitch

  • FO - finish off


Instructions:


Bears:


Body (make 2):



  1. With light grey yarn, ch 2.

  2. Round 1: 6 sc in second ch from hook (6)

  3. Round 2: inc in each stitch around (12)

  4. Round 3: [sc in next stitch, inc] around (18)

  5. Rounds 4-10: sc in each stitch around (18)

  6. Start dec: [sc in next stitch, dec] around (12)

  7. Stuff lightly with fiberfill.

  8. Continue with dec: [dec] around (6), finish off.

  9. Leave a tail for sewing.


Head (make 1):



  1. With light grey yarn, ch 2.

  2. Round 1: 6 sc in second ch from hook (6)

  3. Round 2: inc in each stitch around (12)

  4. Round 3: [sc in next stitch, inc] around (18)

  5. Rounds 4-8: sc in each stitch around (18)

  6. Stuff lightly, add safety eyes between rounds 5 and 6.

  7. Continue dec as with body and finish off.


Arms (make 2):



  1. With light grey yarn, ch 2.

  2. Round 1: 6 sc in second ch from hook (6)

  3. Round 2: inc in each stitch around (12)

  4. Rounds 3-5: sc in each stitch around (12)

  5. Finish off, leave a tail for sewing.


Legs (make 2):



  1. Same as arms but make them slightly longer if desired.


Ears (make 4):



  1. With light grey yarn, ch 2.

  2. Round 1: 6 sc in second ch from hook (6)

  3. Round 2: inc in each stitch around (12)

  4. Finish off, leave a tail for sewing.


Assembling the Bears:



  1. Attach the head to the body using the tail.

  2. Sew on arms, legs, and ears appropriately.

  3. Add accents with purple and red yarn for the overalls and other embellishments.


Chick:


Body:



  1. With yellow yarn, ch 2.

  2. Round 1: 6 sc in second ch from hook (6)

  3. Round 2: inc in each stitch around (12)

  5. Rounds 4-6: sc in each stitch around (18)

  6. Stuff lightly, continue with dec as before.


Beak:



  1. With orange yarn ch 2, sc 2 in second ch from hook, FO.


Wings (make 2):



  1. With yellow yarn ch 4, sc in second ch from hook, sc in next, FO.


Assembling the Chick:



  1. Attach the beak and wings to the body using the tail.

  2. Add eyes using black yarn or safety eyes.
