Bohemian Crochet Crop Top

Materials:

Weight: Medium (4) cotton yarn in red, white, and blue - approximately 300 yards total

Gauge: 4 inches = 12 double crochet stitches (dc). To measure, make a swatch of 10 dc stitches and measure how many stitches fit in a 4-inch square.

Instructions:

Start with the band: Using white yarn, ch 16.
Row 1: dc in the 4th ch from the hook and in each ch across (14 dc). Turn.
Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), dc in the next dc, *ch 1, skip 1, dc in the next 2 dc; repeat from * to the end (7 dc, 7 ch-1 sps). Turn.
Row 3: Ch 3, *dc in the ch-1 sp, ch 1; repeat from * until the end (7 dc, 7 ch-1 sps). Turn.
Repeat rows 2-3 until the band measure approximately 32 inches total or desired length.
Next, make the cups: Attach red yarn to the center of the band.
Row 1: Ch 3, dc in the next 3 dc. (4 dc total). Turn.
Row 2: Ch 3, *dc in the next 2 dc, ch 1, skip 1; repeat from * until the end (2 dc and 2 ch-1 sps). Turn.
Row 3: Ch 3, *dc in the next ch-1 sp; repeat until the end (2 dc). Turn.
Fasten off. Repeat for the second cup on the opposite side.
Joining the Cups: Use white yarn and sl st to join the cups together in the center. Now, ch 50, then sl st into the top of the right cup to create the tie. Repeat for the left side.
For additional design, you can add fringe to the bottom of the band.
Finishing Touches: Weave in all ends with a tapestry needle. If desired, lightly block the top to shape it.
