Crochet Easter Bunnies and Chick

Crochet Easter Bunnies and Chick
Materials:
- Yarn: Worsted weight yarn in grey, green, yellow, pink, and blue
- Crochet Hook: Size G (4.0 mm)
- Safety Eyes: 6 mm black
- Fiberfill Stuffing
- Scissors
- Tapestry Needle
- Stitch Marker
Gauge: 4 inches = 16 single crochets. To measure gauge, crochet a small swatch of single crochet and count the number of stitches across in a 4-inch section.
Abbreviations:
- MR = Magic Ring
- Sc = Single Crochet
- Inc = Increase (2 sc in the same stitch)
- Dec = Decrease (crochet 2 sc together)
- Ch = Chain
- Sl St = Slip Stitch
- St(s) = Stitch(es)
Bunny Body (make 2):
- Start with grey yarn:
1. Make a magic ring (MR).
2. Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
3. Round 2: Inc in each st around (12)
4. Round 3: *Sc in next st, Inc* repeat around (18)
5. Rounds 4-7: Sc in each st (18)
6. Round 8: *Sc in next st, Dec* repeat around (12)
7. Stuff with fiberfill.
8. Round 9: Dec in each st around (6). Fasten off and weave in ends.
Bunny Ears (make 4):
- Using grey yarn:
1. Ch 6.
2. Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 4 ch, turn (5)
3. Row 2: Ch 1, Dec, sc in next 3 (4)
4. Row 3: Ch 1, Dec (2). Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
5. Make another ear.
6. Using pink yarn, repeat the same pattern but make the ears shorter (ch 4).
Assembly:
- Attach ears to the head of the bunny using the long yarn tail. Position ears as desired.
- Attach safety eyes between Rounds 4 and 5. Sew a small pink nose with remaining yarn.
- Use green yarn to create a small skirt by chaining enough to go around the bunny’s waist and slip-stitching it on.
Chick:
- Using yellow yarn:
1. Make a magic ring.
2. Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
3. Round 2: Inc in each st around (12)
4. Round 3: *Sc in next st, Inc* repeat around (18)
5. Round 4: Sc in each st (18)
6. Round 5: *Sc in next st, Dec* repeat around (12)
7. Round 6: Dec in each st around (6). Fasten off and leave tail for sewing.
8. Stuff with fiberfill.
Chick Beak:
- Using orange yarn:
1. Ch 4, turn, sc in first 2 ch, sl st in last ch.
Assembly:
- Sew beak onto chick between the eyes on Rounds 4 and 5.
- Use a tapestry needle to make a small circle on chick’s head for a tuft of feathers using yellow yarn.
Finishing Tips:
- Weave in all ends once you’re finished crocheting.
