Materials

  • 30g DK or worsted weight cotton yarn

  • 3.5 mm crochet hook

  • Yarn needle

  • Scissors

  • 1 small button (1–1.5 cm)


Instructions

Base (worked as a square):

  1. Ch 26

  2. Row 1: sc in 2nd ch and across (25 sc)

  3. Row 2–25: ch 1, turn, sc across (25 rows to form a square)

  4. Fasten off and weave in ends

Folding:

  • Rotate the square so it sits like a diamond

  • Fold side points inward to meet at the center (like a triangle flap)

  • Fold bottom point up to create envelope shape

  • Whip stitch or slip stitch the sides to hold shape

Closure:

  • Attach button to center front

  • Use top flap point to create a loop: ch 6, sl st to form loop, sew down to inside of flap

  • Or, create a slit in final row of top flap
