Crochet Phone Crossbody Bag

Crochet Phone Crossbody Bag

This lightweight and stylish crossbody bag is perfect for carrying your phone and essentials hands-free. Ideal for festivals, walks, or travel, it’s beginner-friendly and quick to finish — with enough room for a phone, cards, and small items.

Materials

  • 80g DK weight cotton yarn (any color)

  • 4.0 mm crochet hook

  • Yarn needle

  • Scissors

  • Button or snap (optional)

Instructions

  1. Body (Worked Flat):

    • Ch 16

    • Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and across (15 sc)

    • Row 2–40: ch 1, turn, sc in each st across (adjust row count for phone length)

    • Fold bottom up to form pouch and seam sides with whip stitch

  2. Top Flap:

    • Work 5–6 rows of sc on the top edge only (creates flap)

    • Optional: add buttonhole (e.g., ch 2, skip 2 sts in middle row, sc around)

  3. Strap:

    • Ch 120 (or length desired), sl st to top back corners

    • Sc back across chain for strength

    • Fasten off and weave in ends

How To

  1. Measuring First: Before you start, measure your phone’s width and height. Adjust the starting chain and row count to fit snugly.

  2. Seaming Help: Fold your piece evenly. Use safety pins or clips to hold sides before seaming if you're new to sewing pieces.

  3. Strap Tips: Try on the strap before securing both ends. Make it longer for crossbody or shorter for shoulder use.

  4. Closure Tip: A button with a loop is the easiest closure for beginners — no sewing hardware needed.

  5. Styling Tip: Use multicolor yarn for a fun striped version or add tassels at the bottom corners.
