Materials
– Worsted weight cotton yarn (approx. 120g)
– 4.5 mm crochet hook
– Tapestry needle
– Scissors


Instructions

Base:

  1. Ch 40, join with sl st to form a ring (be careful not to twist).

  2. Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in each ch around. Join. (40 dc)

  3. Rounds 2–3: Ch 3, dc in each st around. Join.
    → This creates a strong bottom foundation.


Mesh Body:

  1. Round 4: Ch 5 (counts as dc + ch 2), skip 2 sts, dc in next — repeat around. Join to 3rd ch.

  2. Rounds 5–20: Sl st into ch-2 space, ch 5, dc in next ch-2 space — repeat around.
    → For a deeper bag, continue mesh rounds to Round 24.


Top Edging:

  1. Round 21: Ch 1, sc in ch-2 space, sc in dc — repeat around.

  2. Round 22: Sc in each st around. Fasten off.


Handles:

  1. Rejoin yarn at side of bag.

    • Ch 60, sl st to opposite side (handle base).

    • Sc along ch to strengthen. Fasten off.

    • Repeat on other side.


Finishing:
– Weave in all ends. Lightly steam if desired to shape handles.
