Materials
– DK weight baby-safe yarn (approx. 50g, cotton or bamboo blend)
– 4 mm crochet hook
– Tapestry needle
– Scissors
– Measuring tape

Instructions

Crown (Back of Head):
- Make a magic ring.
- Round 1: Ch 2, 11 dc into ring. Join. (12 dc)
- Round 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in each st around. Join. (24 dc)
- Round 3: Ch 2, dc in next, 2 dc in next, repeat. Join. (36 dc)
- Continue increasing until crown measures 10–11 cm in diameter (usually 48–54 sts total)
Body (worked back and forth):
- Row 1: Ch 2, dc in each stitch across half the circle only (flat bottom)
- Row 2–12: Ch 2, turn, dc in each stitch across
- This builds the back and sides of the bonnet
Shell Edging (optional):
- Work sc, skip 1 st, 5 dc in next st, skip 1, sc across the front edge for a soft scallop finish
Ties:
- Attach yarn to bottom front corner
- Ch 35–40, sl st back along chain, fasten off
- Repeat on other side
