Instructions:
This blanket is made up of squares knitted in garter stitch (knit every row) in three different colors.
Step 1: Knit the Red Squares (Make 4)
- Cast on 24 stitches with Red yarn.
- Knit every row until the piece measures 10 inches (25 cm). This will be a small square.
- BO all stitches loosely.
Step 2: Knit the Blue Squares (Make 4)
- Cast on 24 stitches with Blue yarn.
- Knit every row until the piece measures 10 inches (25 cm).
- BO all stitches loosely.
Step 3: Knit the Dark Teal Squares (Make 2)
- Cast on 24 stitches with Dark Teal yarn.
- Knit every row until the piece measures 10 inches (25 cm).
- BO all stitches loosely.
Step 4: Joining the Squares
- Lay out your squares in a 4x2 grid, alternating colors (e.g., Red-Blue-Red-Blue in the first row, Dark Teal-Red-Dark Teal-Red in the second row).
- Using the tapestry needle and a length of the matching color yarn, whip stitch the squares together by sewing through the loops of the edges of the squares.
- Continue until all squares are joined to form the blanket.
Step 5: Finishing Touches
- Weave in any loose ends using a tapestry needle.
- Optional: Block your blanket by wetting it and laying it flat to dry, shaping the squares to enhance their appearance.
Variations:
- Add a border by picking up stitches along the edges of the blanket and knitting a few rows in any color of your choice.
- Experiment with different square sizes by changing the number of cast-on stitches.
