Crochet Daisy Bookmark
Materials:
- Yarn: Worsted weight yarn (4) in White, Yellow, and Green
- Hook: 4.00 mm (G/6)
- Fiberfill stuffing (for the flower center)
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle (for weaving in ends)
Gauge:
16 stitches x 20 rows = 4" in single crochet (SC). Gauge is not critical for this project, but it's good to check if you want a specific size.
Abbreviations:
- CH = chain
- SC = single crochet
- SL ST = slip stitch
- DC = double crochet
- INC = increase (2 SC in same stitch)
- DEC = decrease (crochet 2 stitches together)
Instructions:
Flower Part:
- With White yarn, CH 5, join to form a ring.
- Round 1: CH 1, 10 SC into the ring. Join with SL ST to first SC. (10 SC)
- Round 2: CH 1, *INC in next stitch, SC in next stitch* repeat from * to * around. Join with SL ST. (15 SC)
- Round 3: Change to Yellow yarn. CH 1, *DC in next 2 stitches, CH 2, SL ST in same stitch* for each petal around. Join with SL ST to first petal. (6 petals)
- Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Stuff the center lightly with fiberfill stuffing.
Leaf Part:
- With Green yarn, CH 10.
- Row 1: SC in 2nd CH from hook, and in each CH across. (9 SC)
- Row 2: CH 1, turn. DEC, SC in next 5 stitches, DEC. (7 SC)
- Row 3: CH 1, turn. DEC, SC in next 3 stitches, DEC. (5 SC)
- Row 4: CH 1, turn. DEC, SC in next stitch, DEC. (3 SC)
- Row 5: CH 1, turn. DEC, SL ST in last stitch to finish. (1 SC)
Assembly:
- Using the long tail from the flower, sew the flower securely onto the end of the leaf.
- Fasten off the remaining yarn and weave in any loose ends.
Finishing Tips:
To give your bookmark a polished look, lightly block it if desired. Simply dampen the flower and leaf and pin them to shape. This will help the petals to lay nicely and enhance the overall appearance of your bookmark.
Optional Variations:
Try using different colors for the flower or even adding more petals by repeating Row 3 of the Flower Part to create a fuller flower. You can also create multiple flower bookmarks in different colors to give as gifts or to keep for yourself!
