Amigurumi Keychain Characters

Materials:

Worsted weight yarn in multiple colors (for different characters): approx. 50g each
3.5 mm crochet hook
Fiberfill stuffing
Safety eyes (if required for your character)
Yarn needle
Scissors
Keychain rings or clips

Gauge:

Gauge is not critical for these projects, but aim for 4” = 12 sc in worsted weight yarn. To check your gauge, make a small swatch of 12 single crochets and measure the length.

ch - chain
sc - single crochet
inc - increase (2 sc in the same stitch)
dec - decrease (sc 2 stitches together)
sl st - slip stitch
st(s) - stitch(es)
FO - finish off

Instructions:

Body:

1. Start with a magic ring: Create a magic ring and sc into the ring 6 times. Pull the ring tight. (6 st)

2. Round 1: Inc in each st around. (12 st)

3. Round 2: *Sc in the next st, inc in the next st*; repeat from * to * around. (18 st)

4. Round 3: *Sc in the next 2 st, inc in the next st*; repeat from * to * around. (24 st)

5. Rounds 4-8: Sc in each st around (24 st). Repeat for 5 rounds.

6. Round 9: *Sc in the next 2 st, dec*; repeat from * to * around. (18 st)

7. Round 10: *Sc in next st, dec*; repeat from * to * around. (12 st)

8. Stuff the body: Start adding fiberfill stuffing.

9. Round 11: Dec around. (6 st)
FO and sew the hole closed.

Arms/Legs (make 2):

1. Start with a magic ring: Create a magic ring and sc into the ring 6 times. (6 st)

2. Round 1: Inc in each st around. (12 st)

3. Round 2: Sc in each st around (12 st). Repeat for 5 rounds.

4. FO and leave a long yarn tail for sewing.

Sew the arms and legs onto the body: Use the long tails to sew each body part securely onto the body.

Head:

1. Repeat the body instructions until you reach Round 8.

2. Round 9: Dec around. (18 st)

3. Round 10: Dec around. (12 st)

4. Embellish with eyes and other features before closing. Stuff head and sew closed.

Finishing:

Weave in all ends using yarn needle.
You may choose to block the piece gently to shape it or iron it if needed.
Finally, attach the keychain ring or clip to finish your keychain!
