Materials:
- 4-ply cotton yarn (white) - about 50g
- Crochet hook size G/6 (4.0 mm)
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle (for weaving in ends)
Gauge: 5 single crochets (sc) and 6 rows = 2 inches. To check gauge, crochet a swatch of 10 sc in a row and measure the length and height.

- ch - chain
- sc - single crochet
- sl st - slip stitch
- sp - space
Instructions:
Round 1: Start with a magic ring (or chain 5 and join to form a ring). In the ring, work 6 sc. Pull the magic ring tight and join to the first sc with a sl st. (6 sc)
Round 2: Ch 1, work 2 sc in each sc around. Join with a sl st to the first sc. (12 sc)
Round 3: Ch 1, *1 sc in the next sc, 2 sc in the next sc; repeat from * around. Join with a sl st. (18 sc)
Round 4: Ch 1, *1 sc in the next 2 sc, 2 sc in the next sc; repeat from * around. Join with a sl st. (24 sc)
Round 5: Ch 1, *1 sc in the next 3 sc, 2 sc in the next sc; repeat from * around. Join with a sl st. (30 sc)
Round 6: Ch 1, *1 sc in the next 4 sc, 2 sc in the next sc; repeat from * around. Join with a sl st. (36 sc)
Round 7: Ch 1, sc in each sc around. Join with a sl st. (36 sc)
Round 8: Ch 1, sc in each sc around. Join with a sl st. (36 sc)
Round 9: Ch 1, 1 sc in each of the next 10 sc, then skip 10 stitches, work a slip stitch into the next stitch, then work 1 sc in the last 10 stitches. Join with a sl st. (36 sc)
Finishing: Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Use the tapestry needle to weave in the ends. If desired, lightly block your coaster using a damp cloth to shape it neatly.
