Instructions:
For this pattern, we will be creating a basic amigurumi toy shape. This can be customized into various animals by adding different colors, ears, and features. We will describe making a basic round body first.
Body:
- Start with a magic ring, ch 1.
- R1: 6 sc in the magic ring (6)
- R2: inc in each st around (12)
- R3: (1 sc, inc) repeat around (18)
- R4: (2 sc, inc) repeat around (24)
- R5-R10: sc in each st around (24) for 6 rounds, or until the body reaches approximately 3-4 inches tall.
- R11: (2 sc, dec) repeat around (18)
- R12: (1 sc, dec) repeat around (12)
- Stuff the toy with fiberfill stuffing. Continue to dec (6) and close the body securely.
- FO and weave in ends.
Head:
Repeat the body pattern until you reach R10. After R10, switch colors for the head, and shape as follows:
- R11: (2 sc, inc) repeat around (30)
- R12: (2 sc, inc, ch 2 for ears) repeat around (36)
- R13-R15: sc in each st around (36) for 4 rounds, then dec to close and stuff the head.
Ears:
For a simple ear, ch 5 and sc back to the beginning (4). Fold in half and sew to the head securely.
Facial Features:
