Materials:

Worsted weight yarn in multiple colors: red, orange, yellow, brown, cream, and green (approx. 50g each)
Size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook
Scissors
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Gauge:

Note: To achieve the correct size, check gauge by making a small swatch of 10 single crochet stitches. You should measure approximately 4 inches (10 cm) square. Adjust hook size if necessary.

ch - chain
sc - single crochet
dc - double crochet
sl st - slip stitch
sp - space
rnd - round

Instructions:

Center Circle:

With orange yarn, make a magic ring.
Round 1: Ch 1, work 6 sc into the ring. Pull the ring tight (6 sc).
Round 2: Ch 1, (2 sc in each sc) around (12 sc).
Round 3: Ch 1, (1 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around (18 sc). Finish off and weave in ends.

Outer Star Points:

Using cream yarn, attach with a sl st to any sc of the center circle.
Round 1: Ch 1, *sc in next 4 sc, (3 dc in next sc, sc in next 4 sc, sl st in next sc)*. Repeat from * around 6 times. You should have 6 star points.
Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing, and weave in rest of ends.

Flower Petals:

Using the color of your choice (for example, yellow), join with a sl st into a point of the star.
Ch 3, then work 2 dc in the same st. Ch 3 and sl st into the same st to create one petal.
Repeat until you’ve created 6 petals around the star points. Finish off and weave in ends.

Finishing:

To finish, block the star by gently stretching it into shape and pinning it down to dry flat. This helps enhance the design and ensures it lies flat without curling.
