Colorful Granny Square Market Bag

Materials:

Natural cotton yarn for the main bag (about 200 yards)

Gauge:

For Granny Squares: 4" x 4" = 10 rows x 10 stitches in double crochet. Measure by making a 5" square, then relax and lay it flat to count stitches per inch.

Instructions:

Granny Squares:

With color 1, make a magic ring (or ch 4 and join). Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 2 dc in ring, *ch 2, 3 dc in ring; repeat from * two more times. Join with sl st to top of ch 3.
Rnd 2: Slip stitch to first ch-2 sp. Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in same sp. *3 dc in next ch-2 sp; repeat from * two more times. Join.
Rnd 3: Slip stitch to next ch-2 sp. Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in same sp. *3 dc in next ch-2 sp; repeat from * to end. Join. Fasten off. Make a total of 6 squares.

Assembling the Bag:

Join all squares together in a row, aligning the edges, using the main bag color yarn. Slip stitch through both squares in each corner.
Once joined, fold the row into a rectangle (about 15 inches wide), and join the two ends, creating the base of the bag.

Straps:
