- Hook size 5.0 mm (H/8)
- Stitch marker
- Bag handles (preferably faux leather or cotton) - 1 pair
- Tapestry needle for weaving ends

Abbreviations:
- ch: chain
- dc: double crochet
- sl st: slip stitch
- sp: space
- rep: repeat
Instructions:
Granny Squares:
- Choose your first color. Make a slip knot and ch 4. Join with a sl st to form a ring.
- Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 2 dc into the ring, ch 2, *3 dc into the ring, ch 2; repeat from * until you have 4 groups of 3 dc. Join with a sl st to the top of the starting ch 3. (Total of 4 ch-2 spaces).
- Round 2: Change to second color. Join yarn in any ch-2 sp. Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 2 dc in the same sp, ch 2, 3 dc in the same sp (first corner made). In the next ch-2 sp, make 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc. Repeat in the remaining ch-2 spaces. Join with a sl st to the top of the starting ch 3. You will have 4 corners.
- Continue adding rounds with different colors following the same structure, remembering to make a corner at each ch-2 space and adding 3 dc in each side space. You should create a total of 9 squares each measuring approximately 6 inches wide.
Assembling the Bag:
- Lay out your 9 granny squares in a 3x3 grid.
- Using the tapestry needle, sew the squares together using a whip stitch. Ensure the squares are all aligned properly.
- Once all squares are joined, fold the bag into a shape with the bottom edge facing upward and the sides folded down. You’ll create a pouch-like shape.
Attaching the Handles:
- Take your bag handles and position them on the top edges of the bag, ensuring they are evenly spaced.
- Sew the handles onto the bag using the yarn, secure with a few stitch passes to ensure strength.
Finishing Touches:
Weave in any ends with a tapestry needle. You can also block the bag slightly to shape it if desired. For blocking, dampen the bag and pin it into the desired shape, allowing it to dry.
Optional Variations:
You may choose to line the inside of the bag with fabric for additional durability by cutting a lined fabric in the same shape as the bag and sewing it in before attaching the handles.
