Cozy Textured Scarf
Materials
- Worsted weight yarn in orange (200 yards) and red (100 yards)
- Size 8 (5 mm) knitting needles
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Gauge
To ensure the correct size and drape, check your gauge. Gauge: 16 stitches and 20 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch. Measure the gauge by knitting a 4x4 inch swatch in stockinette and checking your stitch count in that area.

- CO: Cast On
- k: Knit
- p: Purl
- st(s): stitch(es)
- BO: Bind Off
Instructions
1. Cast On: CO 30 stitches using the orange yarn.
2. Knit the First 10 Rows: Begin with row 1. *Knit each stitch across the row.* Repeat for a total of 10 rows to start the scarf body. You will create a stockinette base.
3. Create the Texture: For rows 11-20, you will begin the textured pattern. Note: This pattern alternates stitches.
- Row 11: *K2, p2* across the row until all stitches are worked.
- Row 12: *P2, k2* across the row.
- Row 13: *K2, p2* across the row.
- Row 14: *P2, k2* across the row.
- Row 15: *K2, p2* across the row.
- Row 16: *P2, k2* across the row.
- Row 17: *K2, p2* across the row.
- Row 18: *P2, k2* across the row.
- Row 19: *K2, p2* across the row.
- Row 20: *P2, k2* across the row.
4. Repeat the Texture: Repeat rows 11 to 20 four more times or until you reach about 60 inches in length total. You can adjust this based on how long you want your scarf to be.
5. Bind Off: Once you’ve reached your desired length, BO all stitches loosely. This will help maintain the scarf's stretch.
6. Weave In Ends: Use the tapestry needle to weave in any loose ends from the cast-on and bind-off. This step is important for a clean finish!
7. Optional Finishing: To give your scarf a polished look, block the scarf by wetting it and gently stretching it to your desired dimensions. Let it dry flat. This helps the texture stand out beautifully.
Variations: You may want to experiment with different colors or even stripes! Just change yarn colors when you want to switch it up, and remember to weave in those ends.
