Materials:
- Yarn: Use 100% cotton yarn. You will need approximately 50 grams each in colors: cream, green, and mustard yellow.
- Hook: 4.0 mm (G/6) crochet hook.
- Tapestry Needle: For weaving ends.
Gauge:
Gauge is not critical for this project, but to check if your stitches are consistent, crochet a 10 cm x 10 cm (4” x 4”) square. You should have about 16 stitches and 20 rows in double crochet.
Abbreviations:
- ch: chain
- dc: double crochet
- sl st: slip stitch
- sp: space
- rep: repeat
Instructions:
Coaster 1 (Cream):
- Make a slip knot and ch 6.
- Join with a sl st to the first ch to form a ring.
- Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc 11 into the ring. Join with a sl st to the top of the ch 3. (12 dc)
- Round 2: Ch 3, dc in the same st. 2 dc in each st around. Join with a sl st. (24 dc)
- Round 3: Ch 3, *dc in the next st, 2 dc in the next st*; repeat from * to * around. Join with a sl st. (36 dc)
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
Coaster 2 (Green):
- Repeat the same steps as Coaster 1, but use green yarn.
Coaster 3 (Mustard Yellow):
- Repeat the same steps as Coaster 1, but use mustard yellow yarn.
Finishing:
- Weave in all ends using the tapestry needle.
- To block your coasters, lightly steam them with an iron or place them under a wet cloth to flatten and shape them neatly.
