- Worsted weight cotton yarn in brown (approx. 50 yards)
- G (4.0 mm) crochet hook
- F (3.75 mm) crochet hook (for strap)

Gauge:
Gauge is not crucial for this project, but ensure your stitches are not too tight or loose. To measure your gauge, make a 4” x 4” square using your G hook. You should have approximately 12 double crochets (dc) and 8 rows.
Abbreviations:
- ch - chain
- sc - single crochet
- dc - double crochet
- sl st - slip stitch
- st - stitch
Instructions:
Base of the Bag:
- With your G hook and beige yarn, start by making a magic ring.
- Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 11 dc into the magic ring. Pull the tail to tighten the ring and sl st to the top of the ch 3 to join (12 dc).
- Round 2: Ch 3, (dc in next st, 2 dc in next st) repeat around. Join (18 dc).
- Round 3: Ch 3, (dc in next 2 st, 2 dc in next st) repeat around. Join (24 dc).
- Round 4-10: Ch 3, dc in each st around. Join after each round (24 dc).
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
Sides of the Bag:
- Attach brown yarn to the top of your bag.
- Round 1: Ch 1, sc around, join (24 sc).
- Round 2: Ch 1, (sc in next st, ch 1, skip next st) repeat around. Join (12 sc and 12 ch-1 spaces).
- Round 3: Ch 1, (sc in next ch-1 space, ch 1) repeat around. Join (12 sc).
- Continue for 5 more rounds of sc in each sc stitch without any chaining to create height.
- After the height is sufficient, fasten off and weave in ends.
Strap:
- With F hook and brown yarn, ch 60.
- Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across (59 sc).
- Row 2: Ch 1 and turn, sc in each st across.
- Repeat Row 2 until your strap measures approximately 40 inches or desired length.
- Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
Assembly:
- Sew the strap to the sides of the bag using the tail left from the strap.
- Weave in any remaining ends with your yarn needle.
Embellishments:
- Using yellow yarn, stitch small flowers at the front of the bag with a basic embroidery stitch. Use brown yarn to stitch stems.
Finishing Tips:
- Make sure all ends are woven in for a neat finish.
- Blocking is optional but can help shape your bag for a polished look.
- Consider adding a button or snap closure for added security.
