Instructions:
Base of the Basket:
- Start with a magic circle and chain 1 to secure.
- Round 1: 6 sc into the magic circle. Pull the tail to close the circle. (6 stitches)
- Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch around. (12 stitches)
- Round 3: *1 sc in the next stitch, 2 sc in the next stitch* repeat around. (18 stitches)
- Round 4: *1 sc in the next 2 stitches, 2 sc in the next stitch* repeat around. (24 stitches)
Body of the Basket:
- Round 5: 1 sc in each stitch around, keeping 24 stitches. Repeat for 6 rounds. This will create the height of the basket.
- Change to a slip stitch for the last round to finish the top edge smoothly. Round 12: sl st in each stitch around. Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing if necessary.
Finishing:
- Use your yarn needle to weave in any loose ends.
- You can also block your basket lightly to give it a more structured shape, if desired.
Optional Variations:
- Add a contrasting color for the last round for a decorative edge.
- Make a larger version of the basket by adding additional rounds to the body.
