Crocheted Sheep Toy

Materials:

Yarn: 2 skeins of fluffy gray yarn (worsted weight) for the body, 1 skein of beige yarn for the legs and face
Crochet Hook: Size G/4.0 mm
Safety Eyes: 8mm (or you can embroider them)
Polyester Fiberfill: for stuffing

dec: decrease (sc2tog)
sl st: slip stitch

Instructions:

Body:

With gray yarn, make a magic ring.
Round 1: 6 sc in the magic ring. (6)
Round 2: inc in each stitch around. (12)
Round 3: (1 sc, inc) repeat around. (18)
Round 4: (2 sc, inc) repeat around. (24)
Rounds 5-10: sc in each stitch around. (24) Keep repeating until you reach desired height (about 6 inches).
Begin decreasing:
Round 11: (2 sc, dec) repeat around. (18)
Round 12: (1 sc, dec) repeat around. (12)
Now stuff with fiberfill and continue decreasing:
Round 13: dec in every stitch around. (6)
Fasten off leaving a long tail, pull it through the remaining stitches and pull tight.

Head:

Repeat the same steps for the head but stop at Round 10 (around 4 inches tall). Stuff lightly.
Attach safety eyes before finishing the head.
For the face, use beige yarn, make a small flat circle, attach with a few stitches as a muzzle.
Embroider nostrils and mouth with brown yarn.

Ears:

Make 2: with beige yarn, ch 6.
Row 1: sc in the second chain from hook, sc in next 4, inc. (7)
Row 2: ch 1, turn; sc across. (7)
Fasten off, leave a long tail to sew onto head.

Legs:

Make 4: with beige yarn, ch 7.
Row 1: sc in second chain from hook, sc across. (6)
Rows 2-5: ch 1, turn; sc across. (6)
Fasten off, leaving a long tail.

Assembly:

Sew the head onto the body securely.
Attach legs carefully, ensuring they can support the toy.
Sew ears onto the head.

Finishing:

Weave in all ends securely. For a neat finish, you may want to block the toy before giving it to a child. This helps shape it nicely. Ensure that all pieces are securely attached to make it safe for play.
