Flower Power Crochet Bralette

Materials:

Medium weight cotton yarn (worsted weight, approx. 200g in terracotta color for the bralette and small amounts of yellow and white for the flowers)
Hook size 4.5 mm (G-6)
Sewing needle (for weaving ends)
Scissors
Tape measure

Gauge:

This project has a gauge of 15 stitches and 18 rows = 4 inches in double crochet. To check your gauge, make a test swatch of 20 stitches and 20 rows in double crochet, measure, and adjust your hook size if necessary.

dc - double crochet
sl st - slip stitch
st - stitch
sc - single crochet

Instructions:

1. Bralette Base:

- Begin by making a foundation chain of 36. This will create the width of your bandeau.

- Row 1: In the 4th chain from the hook, make 1 dc. Continue to dc in each chain across. (Total of 34 dc). Turn your work.

- Row 2-8: Ch 3 (counts as first dc). Dc in each st across. At the end of each row, turn your work. You should have a total of 8 rows.

- Fasten off and weave in ends.

2. Making the Cups:

- Repeat the same steps as above to create another piece for the second cup.

- Once you have two pieces, place them together, with the right sides facing out, lining them up.

- Using the sc stitch, crochet around the side, bottom, and other side of the cups for a finished edge. Leave the top open for the neck strap.

3. Creating the Daisy Appliqués:

- Using white yarn, ch 4 and join with a sl st to form a ring.

- Round 1: In the ring, make 12 sc. Join with sl st to the beginning. Cut yarn and fasten off.

- Round 2: Use yellow yarn, attach it to any sc from the previous round, and ch 3. In the same stitch, make 2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc. This makes one petal. Skip the next sc and repeat for a total of 6 petals. Join with a sl st.

- Leave a tail for sewing. Create a total of 2 appliqués for the bralette.

4. Assembly:

- Position the daisy appliqués on the cups of the bralette and sew them securely using a sewing needle and yarn.

- For the neck strap, chain 40 and attach it to the top corners of the cups using sl st.

- For the back tie, chain another 40 and attach it in the same manner to the bottom corners of the cups.

5. Finishing:

- Weave in any remaining ends using a sewing needle.

- Lightly block the bralette if necessary to help shape it.
