Materials:

Gauge: 4 inches = 10 stitches in double crochet. To measure gauge, crochet a small square of 10 double crochets and 10 rows. Measure to ensure your square is 4 inches wide.

Instructions:
Granny Square Pattern:
- Start with a Magic Ring: Form a loop with your yarn and secure it. This will be the foundation of your square.
- Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), work 2 dc into the magic ring, ch 2, *3 dc, ch 2*; repeat from * to * two more times. Join with a sl st to the top of the ch 3. (You should have 4 groups of 3 dc).
- Round 2: Slip stitch in the next 2 dc to reach the ch 2 space. Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), work 2 dc in the same ch 2 space, ch 2, *3 dc in the next ch 2 space, ch 2*; repeat from * to * three more times. Join with a sl st to the top of the ch 3.
- Round 3: Slip stitch into the next 2 dc to reach the ch 2 space. Ch 3, work 2 dc in the same space, ch 2, *3 dc in the next ch 2 space, ch 2*; repeat from * to * four more times. Join with a sl st to the top of the ch 3.
- Round 4: Repeat Round 3, but this time, stop after the last ch 2 and fasten off. Leave a long tail to weave in later.
Finishing:
- Weave in all ends with a tapestry needle.
- To create a more defined shape, lightly steam block your squares by placing a damp cloth over them and gently pressing with an iron.
