
Modular Knit Patchwork Scarf
This customizable scarf is built from small square modules — knit individually and seamed or joined as-you-go. It's a perfect stash-busting project and lets you play with colors, textures, and layout while keeping the knitting simple and portable.
Materials
– Worsted weight yarn in multiple colors (approx. 200–250g total)
– 4.5 mm knitting needles
– Tapestry needle
– Scissors
– Blocking mats (optional)
Instructions
Square Module (Make ~12–20 depending on size):

Cast On: 25 sts

Row 1–30: Knit every row (garter stitch) to create a square (~10×10 cm)

Make each square in a different color or use the same tone for a unified look.
Assembly:
Option 1 – Sew Together:
– Arrange squares in 2 columns of 6–10 squares each.
– Use mattress stitch to sew edges together.
Option 2 – Join-As-You-Go (Advanced):
– Pick up edge stitches from previous square and knit the next one attached.
Optional Border:
– Once all squares are joined, pick up stitches around the entire edge.
– Knit 4 rows garter stitch to frame scarf.
