
Structured Knit Storage Basket (Small Size)
This structured knit basket is perfect for storing craft supplies, toiletries, or keys. Worked in thick yarn and reinforced with slip stitch edging, it stands upright and holds its shape. Great for home decor or as a handmade gift organizer!
Materials
– Super bulky yarn or t-shirt yarn (approx. 150g)
– 6.5 mm circular needles (or DPNs)
– Tapestry needle
– Stitch marker
– Scissors
– Optional: plastic canvas for structure (inside base)
Instructions
Worked in the round from base to top edge.

Base:

Cast on 8 stitches, divide evenly on DPNs or use Magic Loop.

Round 1: Kfb in each stitch (16 sts)

Round 2: Knit

Round 3: K1, Kfb repeat around (24 sts)

Continue increasing 8 sts every other round until base is ~12–14 cm across (approx. 64 sts total).

Work knit every round (stockinette in the round) until basket measures approx. 15 cm tall.

Top Edge Reinforcement:

Switch to slip stitch round: (K1, Sl1) repeat

Work 2 rounds for extra structure

Weave in ends securely.

Optionally insert a plastic canvas or cardboard into base for firmness (before final round).
