- Row 1: In the first space, dc and place 1 dc in each stitch around. Join with a sl st to the top of the beginning ch 2 (you should have 16 dc).
- Row 2: Ch 2, dc in the same st, then dc in the next stitch, repeat this process (2 dc in the first stitch, 1 dc in the next) around (24 dc). Join with a sl st.
- Row 3: Ch 2, dc in the same st, then dc in the next 2 stitches, repeat (2 dc in the first stitch, 1 dc in each of the next 2) around (32 dc). Join with a sl st.

- Row 10: Ch 1, *dc in the next 12, then 2 dc together in the next* repeat until the end (28 stitches).
- Row 11: Ch 1, *dc in the next 11, then 2 dc together in the next* repeat until the end (24 stitches).
- Row 12: Ch 1, *dc in the next 10, then 2 dc together in the next* repeat until the end (20 stitches).
- Row 13: Ch 1, *dc in the next 9, then 2 dc together in the next* repeat until the end (16 stitches).
- Row 14: Ch 1, *dc in the next 8, then 2 dc together in the next* repeat until the end (12 stitches).
- Row 15: Ch 1, *dc in the next 7, then 2 dc together in the next* repeat until the end (8 stitches).
- Row 16: Ch 1, *dc together until 1 st remains* (this should be close to the top of your beanie).
- Cut yarn, leaving about a 12-inch tail, and pull through the last stitch. Use a yarn needle to weave the tail through the remaining stitches and pull tight to close the hole.
Finishing:
Weave in all loose yarn ends using a yarn needle. You can block your beanie using a damp cloth and laying it flat to shape if desired. This helps even out your stitches.
Optional Variations:
You can add a pom-pom to the top of your beanie for a fun design element, or use different yarn colors to make stripes or beautiful patterns!
