Instructions
Entrelac Basics:
-
Each tier consists of base triangles, right-leaning and left-leaning rectangles
-
All pieces are picked up as you go — no seaming required
Step 1: Base Triangles
-
CO 30 sts
-
Work 5 base triangles (each 6 sts wide) using short rows:
-
Row 1: K1, turn
-
Row 2: P1, turn
-
Row 3: K2, turn
-
Row 4: P2, turn
-
...continue to K6, P6, then move to next triangle
-
Repeat across row (5 triangles)
-
Step 2: Right-Leaning Rectangles
-
Pick up 6 sts along side of triangle
-
Work 6-row repeat with picking up and joining to previous tier
-
Repeat across row
Step 3: Left-Leaning Rectangles
-
Same as above, but attached from left side to the previous rectangle
Step 4: Top Triangles (like base triangles in reverse)
-
Bind off as you shape final triangles
Finishing:
-
Seam the short ends of your strip together
-
Lightly block to set shape
How To
-
Use Stitch Markers:
Helps divide sections and keep track of rows per triangle or rectangle -
Keep Notes:
Entrelac can be repetitive — track which tier you're on -
Stretch Test:
Entrelac fabric stretches width-wise — try on before seaming -
Color Play:
Variegated or self-striping yarns give dramatic woven effects -
Yarn Tip:
Choose a plied yarn with good stitch definition to highlight texture
