Assembly:
Make as many granny squares as you need to reach your desired blanket size. A typical size is 5x6 squares, or 30 squares total.
Joining Squares:
- Lay out your squares in the desired arrangement.
- Using the gray yarn, sl st to join squares together. Place squares right sides together and work through the outer loops of both squares.
- Continue until all squares are joined.
Finishing:
Once all squares are joined, you may add a border around the entire blanket by working 1 round of dc in gray yarn. This will help finish your blanket and give it a nice edge.
Weaving Ends:
Be sure to weave in any loose ends with your tapestry needle to ensure your blanket is neat and tidy.
Blocking (optional):
To block your squares, dampen them slightly and lay them flat to dry, shaping them to your desired size. This step helps to make the squares look uniform.
Optional Variations:
Feel free to use different color combinations or add additional rounds to your squares for more complexity. You can also make smaller squares to create a lap blanket or use larger squares for a bedspread.
