Huggable Crochet Sheep

Huggable Crochet Sheep
Materials:
- Yarn: Worsted weight (medium) yarn in the following colors:
- Light Grey (about 150 yards)
- Dark Grey (about 50 yards)
- Brown (about 20 yards)
- Orange (for feet and ears, about 30 yards)
- Hook: 4.0 mm (G) crochet hook
- Stuffing: Polyester fiberfill
- Safety eyes: 12 mm (2 pieces)
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
- Stitch marker
Gauge:
With grey yarn, each 4-inch square should have about 12 stitches and 12 rows in single crochet. To check your gauge, crochet a small square and count the stitches. Adjust hook size if necessary.
Abbreviations:
- ch: chain
- sc: single crochet
- inc: increase (2 sc in 1 stitch)
- dec: decrease (sc 2 together)
- sl st: slip stitch
- FO: finish off
Instructions:
Body:
- Using light grey yarn, ch 2.
- Round 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (6)
- Round 2: inc in each stitch. (12)
- Round 3: (1 sc, inc) around. (18)
- Round 4: (2 sc, inc) around. (24)
- Rounds 5-12: sc around. (24 for each round)
- Round 13: (2 sc, dec) around. (18)
- Round 14: (1 sc, dec) around. (12)
- Stuff the body firmly. Round 15: dec around. (6) and FO, leaving a long tail.
Head:
- Using light grey yarn, repeat steps similar to the body until you have a smaller sphere for the head. Stop after Round 11 for shaping.
- Before you close up the head, insert safety eyes between rounds 8 and 9. Take care to position them to your liking.
- Continue with shaping and dec as before. Stuff the head and attach it to the body with the long tail.
Ears:
- Using the dark grey yarn, ch 4.
- Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in each ch. (3)
- Row 2: ch 1, turn, dec, 1 sc. (2)
- Row 3: dec. (1)
- FO and make another ear. Attach them to the sides of the head.
Feet:
- Using orange yarn, ch 5.
- Round 1: sc in each ch. (5)
- Round 2: inc in each. (10)
- Next 3 rounds: sc around. (10)
- FO, leaving a long tail to attach to the body. Make 4 feet in total.
Finishing:
- Weave in all ends using a tapestry needle.
- For additional texture, you can brush the body lightly using a wire brush to fluff it up.
- Consider lightly blocking the finished pieces to shape them better.
