  • Yarn: Worsted or aran weight wool/acrylic blend – approx. 150–200g in cool grey

  • Knitting Needles: 4.5mm circular or double-pointed needles

  • Tapestry needle

  • Scissors

Gauge

  • 10cm x 10cm = 20 stitches x 28 rows in K2, P2 rib

Finished Size

  • One size fits most adults

Abbreviations

  • K – Knit

  • P – Purl

  • BO – Bind Off

  • CO – Cast On

  • PM – Place Marker

  • SM – Slip Marker

Instructions

Neck and Head Body

  1. CO 100 stitches, join in the round, being careful not to twist. PM to mark beginning.

  2. Work in K2, P2 ribbing for 20–22cm (covers neck and lower face).

  3. Begin shaping for face opening:

    • Work flat (not in the round) back and forth in ribbing for 12–15cm

    • Leave approx. 40% stitches unworked for eye opening

    • Optionally BO some stitches in the center for a wider eye hole

Top Closure

  1. After shaping, join back in the round

  2. Continue ribbing for 10cm

  3. Decrease every 8th stitch in K rows for shaping

  4. When 10–12 stitches remain, thread yarn through and pull tight to close

Finishing Touches

  • Weave in ends

  • Block gently to soften edges

  • Optional: Add drawstring or buttons around eye opening
