- Fasten off and weave in ends. Repeat to make a total of 12 granny squares (mix colors as desired).
Assembling the Vest:
- Lay out 12 granny squares in 2 rows of 6 squares each, 6 squares per side.
- Using the White yarn, join the squares together with a slip stitch to create a panel for the front. Repeat for the back using 12 squares as well.
Creating Armholes:
- With the front piece facing you, measure about 6 inches (15 cm) from the top corner and mark. Repeat for the other side.
- Join the White yarn to the marked corner and ch 1. Sc around the armhole, making sure to go into each square corner. Repeat for the other side.
Adding the Button:
- At the center of the vest, choose a space between two squares and attach a button using yarn and a needle.
- Make a button loop with the White yarn by chaining 10 and attaching it to the opposite side for closure.
Tassels:
- Cut 10 strands of Dark Brown yarn, each about 12 inches long.
- Fold the strands in half, tie a knot at the top and add wooden beads if desired. Attach this tassel to one side of the vest.
Finishing:
Weave in all ends and block the vest to shape it as desired. This will help even out any uneven stitches and give the vest a polished look.
Optional Variations:
Feel free to change the colors of the flowers or even the arrangement of squares to create a unique look. You can also make longer or shorter armhole openings depending on your preference.
